    Sen. Barack Obama spent a quiet day with family and friends in his hometown Sunday, in between campaign events in Washington, D.C., on Saturday and Independence, Mo., today.

    Donald Cox was investigating the apparent firebombing of a Southeast Side home Sunday when he was struck by a bullet below his left ribs -- becoming the first Chicago firefighter believed to be shot in the line of duty in about 40 years.

    3 fatally shot on South Side

    Two men and a woman were found fatally shot inside a South Shore neighborhood residence in possibly drug-related slaying Sunday night.

    The Army unwittingly provided a rallying cry for Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade when on Friday it discharged decorated medic Darren Manzella, who served in Iraq even after he announced he was gay.

    Bank of America bought LaSalle Bank late last year and started converting LaSalle branches to Bank of America. That meant changing LaSalle signs, ads and billboards to reflect the new name.
