Today marks the 40th anniversary of Dr. Martin L. Kings death, and we all should view this as an opportunity to simply take a moment to reflect on the man, his accomplishments and more importantly his legacy, and in reflecting don't forget to thank GOD.
In my profile I have expressed my concern for our people and this is in part due to the legacy that Dr. King has left behind. Giving the encouragement to dare to dream and be inspired by the hopes and possibilities of a brighter tomorrow, is a powerful and extremely motivating force, and should be embodied into the principles of our souls, and somehow I think its not being passed along these days into our children.
Dr. King spoke of the "Drum Major Instinct" that lives in us all, and he characterized it eloquently; as he spoke about how this instinct propels us to want to be first. To be out front; to be recognized and to gain praise. He said we all want to be praised, whether we deserve it or not, and sometimes, most times others become jealous and envious of us, when they see you receiving too much praise. Amen.... To summarize he went on to say we must essentially recognize this instinct, tap into it. Harness it for the better, but be careful not to become like our oppressors and let the desire of the instinct become the desire that motivates our actions in life.
People sometimes we just can't be first in everything, we have to accept that we collectively can get more done, than any one individual ever could, here on earth. I think it's time we really stop acting like earthlings and more like children of God, and embodied the principles and the spirit that instinctively resides in all of us (Drum Major Instinct) for the common good and maybe just maybe we can see the dream come true.
Thanks Dr.King.... for I have many heroes, but on this day I shed a lonely tear for you.
Pleasant
A.K.A.
