About Me In short, I'm a hard working brother, struggling towards a doctorate in sociology. I have a great concern for the state of my black people, our young brothers in particular. I aspire to do as great men do, and that is... build things. It is my hope to build facilities and introduce programs throughout our communities across the nation to foster the growth and education of our young black youth. Let's face it we all don't come privileged families. I know I didn't and in keeping it real I fell victim to a system that was essentially design to oppress and obliterate, but because GOD has his own grand design. I have been saved, from the jaws of the lion; for I have been ordained "The HOOD SAVIOR…"
Music I like all kinds of music, I have a broad range of friends crossing many cultural and ethnic lines so my taste in music is extensive. Truth be told I'm a hard core throw back, old school, Ron Hardy, Frankie Knuckles (Music Box) lovin "HOUSE HEAD" but I enjoy a good party so give me some R&B,Raggae, Latin,(Salsa) or even the right jazz and it's on!!! For all intensive purposes and true correctness to the game Old shcool hip-hop, is the best, and todays conventional hip-hop artist are cool, depending on the artist. easy on the gangster rap...

Likes Meeting new and interesting people, doing positive things and who bring positive energy. Hanging with the little ones, as well as friends and family. I honestly enjoy learning and find reading to be my best form of relaxation outside of fishing. I enjoy sporting events, and recently got sprung I would say on the Cubs but I think its just the environment at Wrigley Field.
Dislikes I suppose what I dislike more than anything is the state of our people. It angers me to see my people who have so much potential waste it, not because they choose too, but because of all the other cir****stances face today that ill afford the opportunity to exploit our GOD given gifts, or becuase someone has convinced them that what they have to offer, does not matter. People only you can make happen the change you want to see, because no one sees it exactly like you do...

    A Moment To Reflect

Friday, April 4, 2008, 09:50 AM EST [General]

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Dr. Martin L. Kings death, and we all should view this as an opportunity to simply take a moment to reflect on the man, his accomplishments and more importantly his legacy, and in reflecting don't forget to thank GOD.

In my profile I have expressed my concern for our people and this is in part due to the legacy that Dr. King has left behind. Giving the encouragement to dare to dream and be inspired by the hopes and possibilities of a brighter tomorrow, is a powerful and extremely motivating force, and should be embodied into the principles of our souls, and somehow I think its not being passed along these days into our children.

Dr. King spoke of the "Drum Major Instinct" that lives in us all, and he characterized it eloquently; as he spoke about how this instinct propels us to want to be first. To be out front; to be recognized and to gain praise. He said we all want to be praised, whether we deserve it or not, and sometimes, most times others become jealous and envious of us, when they see you receiving too much praise. Amen.... To summarize he went on to say we must essentially recognize this instinct, tap into it. Harness it for the better, but be careful not to become like our oppressors and let the desire of the instinct become the desire that motivates our actions in life.

People sometimes we just can't be first in everything, we have to accept that we collectively can get more done, than any one individual ever could, here on earth. I think it's time we really stop acting like earthlings and more like children of God, and embodied the principles and the spirit that instinctively resides in all of us (Drum Major Instinct) for the common good and maybe just maybe we can see the dream come true.

Thanks Dr.King.... for I have many heroes, but on this day I shed a lonely tear for you.

    Pleasant

    A.K.A.
